Overview

An experiential event that seeks to shake up the way you think about the future of food, technology, art and more, Higher Order will take over Southbank's multi-storey Hanover House precinct from November 10–December 12. Featuring the culinary stylings of celebrated chef Scott Pickett (Estelle, Matilda), the pop-up invites punters on an immersive 90-minute journey of discovery through Level Five space The Attic.

Here, multiple themed zones will host a series of evocative installations, each with an innovative dish to match. There's a larger-than-life bamboo steamer that you can walk inside to eat bao, while another space features a reimagined vending machine built on the idea of eliminating single-use plastics. You'll experience a dynamic riff on the tea ceremony, catch a mesmerising performance of water and light unfold within a mirrored room, and sip vodka concoctions in a bar made of hydroponic greenery and edible foliage.

More audio and visual delights come courtesy of works by Loose Collective and Studio John Fish, with a specially curated soundtrack nodding to the story behind the night's ingredients. Two Higher Order sessions will unfold each evening (at 6pm and 8.30pm) from Wednesday to Sunday throughout the pop-up's duration.
