Hophaus Annual Dachshund Race 2018
See the tiny pups pump their stubby legs and donate some money to Dachshund Rescue Australia.
Overview
Hophaus Bavarian Bier Bar Grill is hosting its annual charity dachshund race once again this October — and, frankly, you shouldn't need any more information to understand why that's a thing you should care about.
Returning to the Southbank German restaurant, the teckelrennen is an Oktoberfest tradition, and will see sausage dogs from far and wide pumping their stubby little legs for gold and glow. The first heat kicks off at 11am on Saturday, October 13, with the grand champion expected to be crowned later that afternoon. There'll also be a costume competition, because the only thing better than dachshunds is dachshunds in tiny adorable outfits.
It isn't just all for the fun of it though — all money raised from entry fees paid by competitors will be donated to Dachshund Rescue Australia. Since the first race in 2015, the event has raised over $10,000.
