Overview
UPDATE: MARCH 23, 2020 — Due to government restrictions on public gatherings, Prahran Market has suspended all events including the Hot Cross Bun High Tea.
While it may seem like yesterday was 2019, you blinked and now it's almost Easter 2020. Which, despite what supermarkets may think, means it's hot cross bun time. And Prahran Market is celebrating the seasonal spiced bun with a one-off hot cross bun high tea.
Held on Saturday, April 4, the holy high tea will see you pairing the market's tastiest buns with Libertea drinks. You'll make your way through freshly baked hot cross buns from Pete n Rose's Deli (Phillipa's), Noisette, Q le Baker, Chaso's Gourmet Deli, Ripe the Organic Grocer and Paddlewheel (Woodfrog).
They won't be your run-of-the-mill hot cross buns, either, expect sweet candied orange versions and ones filled with gin-soaked fruit. Plus, they'll come topped with the likes of salted French butter, goat's curd and even ice cream.
Tickets to the high tea will set you back just $26.50, which includes a glass of bubbles from Blackhearts & Sparrows on arrival and a baking demonstration by Phillipa Grogan of Phillipa's Bakery.
If you want to head along, you'll need to move fast than the Easter bunny — grab tickets over here.
