Overview

Lygon Street isn't short of wine bars, or delis for that matter, but one that continues to stand out is Grana. Opened in 2022, first-time visitors could find themselves overwhelmed by the wealth of wine, artisanal cheese and cured meats on display.

While you're making up your mind about what to sip or snack on back home, there's a communal table where you're welcome to perch and think about things. Here, you can enjoy wine by the glass alongside small and large plates, salumi, pizza, and more.

Yet this typically bright and bubbly spot is switching things up for Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2026 with the arrival of Grana After Dark. Held from 9.30–11.45pm on Thursday, March 26–Saturday, March 28, expect dimmed lights, cranked volume and late-night bites.

Featuring a bespoke menu for the occasion, diners will tuck into lesser-known Italian snacks, rare wines picked from the cellar and select drops from Gum Wines' George McCullough. It's pegged as Berghain-by-Brunswick with better food — let's hope you get in.
