Overview

A remote alpine village more than 300 kilometres from Melbourne is about to drift into a world of shadows, murmurs and dreams. Curated by artists Madelynne Cornish and Philip Samartzis in the foothills of the Alpine National Park, Phantasmagoria is a free, site-responsive festival and exhibition incorporating video and sound works, photography, installations and interactive art.

Taking place over three days in Bogong Village, the festival portion of Phantasmagoria runs from Friday, April 7 through to Sunday, April 9. Visitors will interact with technology, including QR codes and FM radio transmitters, and will walk through a sound garden of embedded loudspeakers. Many of the works will draw on the history of the region, including dreamtime stories and folklore.

The Bogong Centre for Sound Culture will also play host to a 'legacy exhibition' of video and sound art over the subsequent three weekends in April.
