Overview
UPDATE: April 29, 2020 — Due to the restrictions in place in the bid to slow the spread of COVID-19, Pint of Science 2020 has been cancelled.
If you've ever come up with a bright idea after a few beverages, here's an event you'll be able to relate to: Pint of Science. From Monday, May 11 to Wednesday, May 13, a selection of Melbourne pubs will welcome some of the country's cleverest minds to chat about their current scientific research. You'll learn all about new discoveries, technologies and advancements — and maybe even discover what's in your pint.
On the agenda: plenty of topics to get you thinking over a brew. This year's specific subjects haven't been announced yet, but you can expect to ponder how supercomputers helped firefighters this summer, whether it's possible to brew beer from ancient Egyptian yeast and what Aussie native bees have to do with our future.
While tickets don't go sale until mid-April, attendance will cost less than a pint. To boost your brain over a few brews, head to Carlton Brewhouse, Grape & Grain, Notting Hill Hotel, Richmond Union Bowling Club, The Spotted Mallard, The Local Taphouse, Pirates Tavern Williamstown, Transport Hotel, Welcome to Thornbury and Welcome to Brunswick.
