Overview

Celebrating Polish culture through dance, song, theatre, film, visual arts and literature, PolArt has been solidly running for 40 years. It’s been a little while since Melbourne hosted this extravaganza, as it is held every three years in different capital cities around Australia.

PolArt consists of eight days packed with performances, exhibitions and cinematic offerings. It is the largest Polish Arts Festival outside of the country itself, making this quite the event worth celebrating.

Polish music will be flowing out of Ruby’s Music Room for the duration of the festival, and for the first time ever, PolArt has included a Fringe Festival as part of their celebrations. Art exhibitions will be popping up everywhere from No Vacancy to the Victorian Artists' Society Gallery, exploring and celebrating their rich history and interconnectedness with Australia. Did we mention Magda Szubanski is an ambassador for the festival and that she’s presenting her memoir, Reckoning? Consider us locked in.
