Sad Grrrls Fest

Overview

For a long while, people have been raising issue with the lack of gender diversity in the music festival scene. Women often occupy tiny stages and small percentages of festival lineups. Up-and-coming female and LGBTIQ musicians struggle to achieve non-gendered recognition. But finally, there's a local collective taking action. Sydney-based record label Sad Grrrls Club is launching their first Melbourne showcase at the Reverence Hotel in Footscray on Saturday, October 1 — and they've pulled together a stellar non-male lineup.

The event is designed to be a safe space, free from the kind of harassment that can make festivals so draining for those that don't identify as males. The event motto is: "Be good to each other and have fun". Right on. Check out the full lineup below.
