Overview

Celebrate the humble snag at the Builders Arms Hotel, as this much-loved Fitzroy watering hole presents its annual Sausage Festival for the 13th time. Running from Thursday, June 18–Sunday, June 28, this enduring event honours sausages from around the globe, with a banger menu bursting with inventive sausage-led dishes paired with specially selected beverages.

The menu features six mouthwatering options that spotlight snags gathered from local butchers, inspired by different cuisines and continents. Try a merguez sausage with oyster and mignonette, or a Manchester scotch egg with black pudding and Gentleman's Relish.

A fancy French dish sees a brioché stuffed with saucisson and sauce à la moutarde. Sample woodfored duck neck sausage with pork, pistachio and duck jus, smoked frankfurters with sauerkraut, Lyonnaise sausage and pork belly, and finish with a Spotted Dick with vanilla and brandy custard.

Besides the stellar snags, the Sausage Festival also has a special event that builds upon the theme. On Wednesday, June 24, renowned broadcaster and food judge Cam Smith will host sausage-themed trivia from 6pm, where the winning team heads home with a Meatsmith-made sausage tray primed for your next barbecue feast.

Arguably, the most important and most adorable highlight of the Sausage Festival is the Sausage Dog Meetup. On Sunday, June 21, between 3 and 5pm, bring your short-legged, long-bodied furry friend to enjoy the festivities and score pup prizes.
