The Convenient Store 2022
A pop-up 7-Eleven stocked with specialty snacks and dishes created by the likes of Falco, MoVida and Brick Lane. Plus, Slurpee-inspired cocktails each night.
Overview
Move aside, high-falutin' fancy food — it's time for good old-fashioned convenience store grub to take the spotlight. Popping up at the Queen Victoria Market from Friday, March 25–Sunday, April 3 as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, The Convenient Store is an ode to the low-brow, high-satisfaction snackage of your local grab-and-go joint. Only this one's stocked with an array of top-shelf goodies from some of Melbourne's star chefs, producers and eateries.
We're talking about prawn cocktail-inspired Chappy's chips with Yarra Valley Caviar, Pie Thief's cult favourite dim sim sausage roll, an exclusive savoury tomato sorbet courtesy of MoVida, neenish tarts from the Falco crew and Brick Lane's beer icy poles.
You'll spy a sushi train stocked with onigiri, a fridge selection showcasing delights by Tom Sarafian, ice cream crafted from American Doughnut Kitchen's signature dough balls, and plenty of bottled cocktails from the city's favourite booze-slingers.
What's more, from 4–7pm each day, the joint moonlights as a pop-up bar, slinging Slurpee-inspired cocktails alongside a host of other liquid treats.
The Convenient Store will open from 8am to 7pm daily — bring your card, as it's cashless.
