Overview

The inaugural edition of Melbourne's latest specialty film festival is set to light up the Bella Union with tales of identity, humour and courage. Hosted over three days, tilde will showcase films featuring trans and gender diverse characters and content, made by filmmakers from all around the world.

The festival begins on Friday, November 21 with Boy Meets Girl, an American coming of age comedy set in a small town in Kentucky. The movie will be followed by an opening night party with music by local DJ Simona Kapitolina. Other feature films on the program include German drama Romeos, Hawaiian documentary Kumu Hina and experimental Swedish film She Male Snails. Saturday afternoon also boasts an intriguing lineup of short films including Sistagirls, about a pair of indigenous transwomen living in Central Australia.
