If one thing's certain about FBR ROM, it's that it ain't your everyday coffee business. Blending the worlds of top-notch brewing, music, tech and culture, this cutting-edge outfit is stepping things up for FBR Allstars AU — pegged as the world's largest cupping event on Saturday, July 4. For coffee drinkers, that means the chance to sip on 100 coffees roasted all over Australia. While you'll likely be consuming more than a reasonable amount of caffeine, this jam-packed event goes beyond your typical flat white or latte. Welcoming guests into the next era of coffee — aka the fourth wave — FBR ROM has gathered 250 of their favourite roasters, coffee weirdos, industry legends and emerging talents for this huge event. Meanwhile, Oatly is supplying the oat milk (and a sound system), Sleepy Bloc is in charge of brewing, and Hario has handed over a bunch of prizes for the highest-rated roasters on the day. Plus, the team at Shadow Baking will be serving savoury bites and sweet treats at Messina HQ, including a collaborative brioche bun stuffed with gelato in a flavour of your choice. With music by local DJs, including Mimi J, Bouki and Max Cherry, this coffee-focused block party will have you bouncing off the walls. If you're keen to get involved, Sleepy Bloc is hosting the cupping event (10am–1.30pm), a photo station, and FBR Archive — a temporary museum of offbeat relics, forgotten artifacts, and strange discoveries made over the years. Then, a few steps away at Messina HQ, attendees will find the dance floor, art installations and bites to eat from 11am–6pm. Spanning competition-level brews and experimental processing, FBR ROM Allstars will remind you why you're a coffee obsessive. Like what you see?
