A dive bar mightn't seem like the best place to find love, but when it comes to good eating, Heartbreaker is making us swoon. The recently opened city bar, from the team behind The Everleigh, has just launched its menu of mouth-watering bar snacks courtesy of acclaimed chef Jock Zonfrillo. They've called the concept Love Street Diner – and frankly, it's a name that couldn't be more fitting.

The idea with Love Street seems to be to keep things simple, hence a menu with only six items. The food, like the rest of Heartbreaker, has a clear American influence, with barbecue rib hoagies, Philly cheese steak fries, chipotle onion rings and pork scratching with jalapenos, as well as a classic Reuben sandwich and Kentucky-fried pork roles with lettuce. Should go mighty nice with one of Heartbreaker's pre-mixed cocktails.

That said, while the flavours are distinctly American, the service style seems closer to traditional Chinese yum cha. "Staff are going to wander around with grandstand trays," said Zonfrillo to Good Food. "You grab the food, swipe your card, and it's see you later...there will be a menu to order from too, but I think it's going to be so much better to be sitting there, food comes past, and you're like 'yep, I'll have one of them.'"

In our case, admittedly, it's more likely to be 'one of each.' But can you really blame us? After all, we're in love.

Heartbreaker's Love Street Diner is located at 234a Russel Street, Melbourne, and will be serving food from 6pm each day. For more information, check them out on Facebook.
