Overview
After unveiling one of the world's biggest standalone beauty destinations in Melbourne's CBD last July, Mecca has set its sights south-east. The beauty empire will roll its three existing Chadstone stores into one massive self-care precinct — its second-largest location yet — by the end of 2026.
The 2400-square-meter store will more than double Mecca's footprint in Chaddy, where it has operated since 1999. The Malvern megamall draws 22 million local and international shoppers annually, making it a natural fit for what Maria Tsaousis, Mecca's Chief New Concepts Officer, calls a "next-generation beauty experience".
Over 200 brands will line the shelves, but expect more than your standard browse. Like the Bourke Street flagship, there will be over 50 bookable services across a collection of spaces dedicated to everything beauty.
Mecca Aesthetica clinic provides advanced dermal treatments in cushy rooms, while its sister concept Mecca Skin Studio is geared towards express pick-me-ups. Mecca Beauty Atelier offers bespoke 90-minute makeovers, where expert makeup artistry meets hair transformations by internationally-acclaimed London colourist John Woods.
Scent gurus guide shoppers through the fragrance gallery of Mecca Perfumeria, and there's even an in-house apothecary for holistic wellness services. In other words, good luck popping in for just one thing.
The new store will also introduce a handful of brands to Chadstone, including Seoul fragrance house Born to Stand Out and the eponymous makeup line from New York-based celebrity makeup artist Fara Homidi.
The wellness edit is expanding too, with additions like botanical oils from London wellness lab anatome, mood-improving fragrances from The Nue Co and homegrown Fuca's cheerful organic skincare.
The architects at Studio Qualler (who previously worked on Mecca's Bourke Street flagship) will return to design the Chadstone space, incorporating the same experience-led design philosophy that defined the CBD location.
Mecca's new-look Chadstone store is expected to open in late 2026. Head to the website for more information.
