This Just in: One of Melbourne's Most Iconic Seafood Restaurants to Close, But There is Still Time to Celebrate Its Remarkable 30 Years in the Business
The team have announced a month-long series of specials that will showcase dishes that have defined the establishment over the years.
After a remarkable 30 years in the business, iconic seafood restaurant The Atlantic has announced its closure. With the doors set to close at the end of May, the team are planning a month-long celebration with a series of offers and events to honour the restaurant's legacy.
The Atlantic has been serving fresh seafood and premium meats at Crown in South Bank since 2011. However, it began life in St Kilda, where it was originally founded back in 1994 by Hatem Saleh. It was a restaurant synonymous with celebrations and living dining, which helped shape Melbourne's blossoming hospitality scene at the time.

"The Atlantic has always been about great produce, great energy and creating a service experience people come back for. From the early days in St Kilda in the 90s, to an incredible 15 years at Crown, we've been immensely proud to build something that has become part of Melbourne's dining culture. While this chapter is coming to a close, The Atlantic is not going anywhere, and we're already looking ahead to its next evolution in a new destination," said Founder and Managing Director, Saleh.
Over the years, the acclaimed restaurant has been led by a succession of renowned chefs and frequented by major stars. A-list celebs who have dined at the atmospheric and theatrical venue include Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mariah Carey, and Oprah.

It's no surprise that the team does not plan to go out quietly. Instead, they have announced a series of stellar specials showcasing dishes and moments that have defined the establishment over the years.
From Wednesday through Friday, the Weigh and Pay experience allows guests to select from the fresh seafood display to create customised platters. A roaming caviar cart will encourage caviar bumps with a pour of chilled Grey Goose on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. There will also be a Bugs and Bubbles lunch special, and a not-to-be-missed Oyster Hour.

Finally, on its last day at Crown, The Atlantic will present The Final Service on May 27th. The five-course degustation will showcase the restaurant's most signature dishes with a glass of champagne on arrival. Head to the website for further details and to secure your spot before it's too late.
While the team may be calling last orders in South Bank, this is not the end of the road for the institution. The Atlantic Group is actively exploring locations for the next iteration of The Atlantic, so watch this space for any emerging details.
