Overview

Once upon a time, the only place you could find an A25 pizza was in South Yarra. But now the restaurant has two additional outposts: a weekday spot in Docklands and this all-day Italian coffee spot and eatery in the CBD. Located on the corner of Lonsdale Street and Hardware Lane, A25 CBD is open for coffee and on-the-go breakfasts from 7am during the week, before moving into its acclaimed pizzas for lunch and dinner.

The pizzas are the main pull here — bases are left to ferment for at least 36 hours before they're chucked in the restaurant's over and served hot at your table. The classics are well covered, as well as some surprises, like the prawn and porcini mushroom number, and one topped with nduja, olives and fermented chilli. Vegans will be happy to know that A25 not only offers vegan mozzarella, but it has seven separate vegan pizza options, including a margherita, capricciosa and eggplant parmigiana. That's rounded out with a tight selection of pastas, snacks and salads.

A25 also full caters for coeliacs — in April 2019, it became certified by Coeliac Australia. That means that its gluten-free dishes — which include pizza, pasta, foccacia and cannoli — are all free from gluten contamination.

You can book, but you can also rock up and try your luck for a table — there's room for 50 people inside and another 50 outside.
