Us Melburnians will never tire of brunch but there are only so many times you can order avo toast and poached eggs in a row before boredom sets in. For brunch with a bit of a kick, head to Abbotsford's Oneyada. From the team behind much-loved local haunt Jinda Thai, Oneyada is a Thai-style brunch affair, boasting a unique menu and many valid options for starting your day (or for punctuating your errands).

Small and sweet, the cafe has soup, rice — the breakfast fried rice with fried chicken, egg, sausage and bacon is a staple — and noodle choices. For something quick and simple, try the steamed bread with homemade kaya and pandan custard, then wash it all down with a hot Thai coffee sweetened with condensed milk or tea.
