On the middle island of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, you'll find this local gem — a stay that feels like it's risen out of the island itself. Located on a 70-acre working farm in Inishmaan (Inis Meáin), these two modern houses are ideal for trips with all your friends. Known as Inis Meáin Island Stays, guests can choose between the four-person Currach House or the eight-person Karst House. Both feature private gardens and custom-designed interiors and exteriors with natural materials — slate, lime washing, granite tiles, and solid wood furnishings — throughout. In addition to the remarkable fit-out and epic views of the surrounding Atlantic Ocean, guests also have access to an Exploration Kit that includes Cube bicycles, fishing rods, backpacks, yoga mats, binoculars, maps, ash walking sticks and more — everything you need to explore the length and breadth of the island. The venue evolved from a Michelin-recommended restaurant — it received Michelin's first-ever Green Star in 2021 — which has since closed. The crew still provides guests with the freshest food and produce from the farm. On arrival, guests will receive the Island Farm Welcome Box, which includes fresh eggs, honey from the native Irish bee's apiary, crispy salad leaves, freshly baked bread, biscuits and homemade granola. If you love brown bread, the team may even share the family recipe (if you ask nicely). There's also a Larder Starter Kit with some essentials, and guests are permitted to explore the farmland and vegetable gardens — you can even harvest some sprigs of fresh herbs to add some flavour to your cooking or brew your own tea with freshly plucked mint leaves. If you aren't confident in your cooking skills, you can order soup and dinner a week out from your arrival — wines are also available.
