The Auckland Fringe will make its return to makeshift and established venues across the city from 15 February – 12 March 2017. The official home of underground performance art and the unofficial home of the Fringe, Basement Theatre, has unveiled a bumper program of events for next year's artistic throw down.

The schedule welcomes an eclectic bunch of international and local talent to the main stage and studio, with a number of performances taking punters beyond the fourth wall into the CBD.

To open the festival Silo Theatre presents dark, assault on language, Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again, by UK playwright Alice Birch. Off the back on an appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe and a handful of Australian festivals, We May Have to Choose will make its NZ debut. The piece sees writer/actor Emma Hall perform a poetic study of the personal soapbox; 621 opinions in 45 minutes. Also jumping the pond will be Australian cross-artform maestro Eliza Sanders with her two shows, Castles and Pedal.

The third week continues with a lineup of strong female artists. Julia Croft will perform her new feminist work Power Ballad, while choreographer Alexa Wilson will bring her piece 21 Movements to the stage, mapping major cultural events in the 21st Century.

The upstairs studio venue will be transformed into the Performance Salon— where works will fill the gaps between performances and pop up around audiences. New World in Enter the New World and Delivery #17, two satellite performances in the program, will take participants out of the theatre.

Auckland Fringe runs from the 21st February - 12th March 2017. For the full programme visit, aucklandfringe.co.nz
