Off the back of transforming a cooking wok into a...wok of art for Tiger Beer's latest campaign, painter Josh Lancaster is presenting a solo exhibition dedicated to well-known local hangouts.

Dubbed 'The Regulars', the exhibition features paintings of places that are considered "hyper-local", including highly recognisable Ponsonby staples: Farina, Prego, The Cav, Fred's, Queenies, and pre-ferry coffee go-to The Devo.

Lancaster told Stoppress that he hopes the exhibition will remind people of a lunch, dinner or coffee that they may have had in the past. "I love the idea of places we define as 'ours'. This could be a restaurant, a coffee shop or a dairy."

The Regulars is the first solo exhibition for Lancaster. He previously worked in the advertising industry before breaking free to pursue a full-time career in art. Catch The Regulars at the Smyth Galleries from June 28 to July 27, 2016. Limited prints will be available.
