The First Artist Lineup Has Been Announced For Splore 2017
If beachside dancing and mid-ocean listening weren't already enough.
With summer right around the corner the festival lineups are starting to come in hot. Splore, one of the season's most alluring events is shaping up to be another goodie. Known for its eclectic music policy and advocacy of creative expression, the festival has once again delivered a lineup of intriguing acts; if the idea of beachside dancing and mid-ocean listening wasn't already enough...
Making her New Zealand debut at the 2017 event will be Sampa the Great with a full live band. The Australian singer is known for her innovative hybrid of hip hop and spoken word. Australian electro-pop duo GL will also make their New Zealand debut at the festival, while British reggae ska band The Dub Pistols and jungle music pioneers The Ragga Twins will make return appearances.
Having just performed as part of Red Bull Sound Select, Stones Throw Records affiliate and Los Angeles producer Egyptian Lover will perform a set of old school dance; hip hop producer Tall Black Guy will make his way from Detroit; and DJ/producer Nickodemus comes by way of the Big Apple.
Local acts include Pitch Black off the back of their new album Filtered Sensors, sci-fi, spaghetti western band Carnivorous Plant Society, Weird Together with their full live show, plus Latinaotearoa, Yoko-Zuna, Villette, Frank Booker, Aroha, Greg Churchill, Dylan C, Dubhead and Selecta Sam. Further artists will be announced in October.
The festival's annual theme is a large part of the visual aesthetic. Next year's open brief will encompass the theme of Strangely Familiar.

Splore 2017 is set to take place from February 17-19, 2017 at Tapapakanga Park.
