This Artist Residency Lets You Live and Work Inside a Whiskey Distillery
For THREE months.
Some say that alcohol releases the creative spirit. What better way to test that theory than by unleashing 18 artists in a fully functioning whiskey distillery? Now in its fifteenth year, the Glenfiddich Artists in Residence Prize invites artists to live and work (and drink) for a period of three months at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland.
For the first time this year applications have been opened up to New Zealand artists. Submissions for the 2017 habitation are open to all artists, using any art medium. From print, photography, animation, performance, installation to painting historical figures on rice crackers - anything counts. During the residency, the winning artist will create work taking inspiration from the distinctive location, history, heritage, people and craftsmanship of the distillery.
Following the application process an exhibition of the five finalists' work will be held at Melbourne's No Vacancy Gallery from November 8 - 13, 2016. A winner will then be announced on November 18, 2016 following a final tally of votes and the last round of judgment by Artist in Residence Programme Curator, Andy Fairgrieve.
