A 3D Dining Experience Is Coming to Auckland
Watch a tiny, accident-prone chef create a virtual meal right on your plate.
No longer just a destination to hit the slopes, Snowplanet welcomes a new 3D dining experience to its onsite restaurant.
Direct from a hit run in London, Le Petite Chef will make its New Zealand debut at the indoor snow arena this weekend. The projector-based culinary experience provides diners with an animated show that takes place right on the tablecloth.
The two-hour, three-course dining concept sees tiny, accident-prone chef Gaston de la Neige scurry between plates and cutlery, telling a story to create a virtual version of the meal before the real thing arrives from the kitchen.
Nigel Stewart, Restaurant Manager at Snowplanet, first saw the concept online and says that the amusing little chef is just part of the show. "Don't be surprised if a fire-breathing dragon suddenly flies over your plate."
The concept is the brainchild of Belgium artist collective Skullmapping run by Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck. Le Petit Chef made its debut at the World Trade Club and Vi Lounge in Dubai, before heading to Belgium, England and Germany.
Le Petite Chef is available at Snowplanet's 7Summits Restaurant & Bar every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. There is a maximum of six people per table for the dining experience.
