Buy One, Give One Initiative Eat My Lunch Launches Dinner Service
Creating positive social change one dinner at a time.
After handing out 515,000 lunches to deserving school children, 'buy one, give one' initiative Eat My Lunch has announced it will expand its services to dinner.
The organisation was founded by Lisa King and celebrated chef Michael Meredith in 2015 with an aim of reducing child poverty in New Zealand — one in four kids (about 25,000) currently live in poverty.
Following the same model as the lunch service, the appropriately titled Eat My Dinner will give lunch to a Kiwi kid in need for every dinner bought.
The meal options have been designed by Meredith himself, and each 'heat and eat' serving will come complete with a main dish, vegetables and sides. The surprise element will also carry across to the dinner service and meal options will change daily — current examples on the Eat My Dinner website include: chipotle chicken and wild rice, Moroccan lamb tagine and corn chip crumbed pork schnitzel.
The meals will cost $12 for a 'Kids' portion, $14 for 'Classic' and $17 for 'Hungry'. They will be delivered to the destination of your choice before 6pm. The delivery areas for the initial launch include central Auckland — from Herne Bay to Greenlane and Parnell.
