Hell bent on spreading the word of craft beer, Anthony Browne and Andrew Larsen have already given us beer institutions Brothers Beer and Brothers Juke Joint, as well as a brewery based out of the Piha Bowling Club. And they're not stopping there.

The pair's newest offering is a beer lover's paradise in the recently developed Orakei Bay Village. Brothers Orakei is situated in an old gin distillery adjacent to the Orakei train station. Next door you'll find Bowl and Arrow, Bird on a Wire and a new outpost for Mexican Specialties.

The craft beer bar is modelled on the successful Brothers City Works Depot location, capturing the comfortable yet industrial vibe through vintage furniture, refurbished bar leaners and an attractive beer garden. It comes complete with a chandelier from the Auckland Hyatt and a barrel wall that the brewery will use to age ales. Beer is obviously a staunch focus. A range of 18 taps and upwards of 150+ bottled varieties will be on offer, as well as an off license so punters can take their favourites home.

To soak up the suds, chef Sara Simpson (Clooney, The Tasting Shed, Terrôir, The Botanist) is at the helm of the kitchen and a burger menu that Browne and Larsen think has potential to become known as one of the best in Auckland. Expect your classic ⅓ pounder, a chicken parma burger and a pork and mussel.

Brothers Orakei is open from 12-10pm, Tuesday - Sunday in Orakei Bay Village.
