The Melt is a New Pop-up For Grilled Cheese Lovers
The cheese dream has been realised.
Grilled cheese; it's an elixir of life and the snack food dreams are made of. The international comfort food can been traced back to the turn of the nineteenth century when some genius decided to toast cheese between two slices of bread. An early version was also suitably called "the cheese dream" during the Great Depression.
Auckland's Little Eats are the latest to tackle the classic dish and will go the extra mile to show off its prowess by launching their own pop-up dedicated to the art of grilling cheese.
Every Friday and Saturday in July, the farmer's market regulars will set up makeshift eatery The Melt inside Ponsonby's Craft Kitchen to hawk artisanal versions of grilled cheese sandwiches - expect mouth-watering delights like: aged gouda, cola braised short rib and mac 'n' cheese sandwiched between sourdough. Further menu items available include a selection of sides and desserts.
The debut outing of The Melt will take place at Ponsonby's Craft Kitchen on July 1 at 6pm.
