Win a Double Pass to See The Kitchen
An Indian broth of theatre and cuisine.
Auckland Arts Festival's The Kitchen (directed by Roysten Abel) is like a TV cooking show but on stage and with moody lighting, a dramatic narrative and twelve booming drums.
100 kilos of rice, sugar, almonds, milk, raisins, cardamom and ghee will go into the night's performance, which will feature a couple enacting a drama without words, while continually stirring huge steamy vats of payasam (a traditional Indian dessert). Twelve drums in the background form the show's soundtrack.
For those who skipped dinner to watch the show, don't worry, payasam will be passed around for sharing afterwards.
