The Team Behind Bestie Has Opened a Cabinet-Style Cafe
The new arrival will also serve as the engine room for the K' Road cafe.
Emma Lyell and Tane Williams have run out of room at Bestie. Since taking over Alleluya in the corner of K' Road's St Kevins Arcade two years ago, the pair has developed quite the reputation for delicious breakfast and lunch offerings — we can't look past Courtney's Fluffy Hotcakes and the chorizo flatbread.
With Bluebells Cakery recently moving to Kingsland to set up a commercial kitchen and flagship cafe, Emma and Tane have inhabited the space on France Street in Eden Terrace with their second opening. While from the outside it looks like a cabinet-style cafe, Baby will serve as the engine room for both sites. The additional space will allow the team to go nuts with new creations and produce baking for both Baby and Bestie.
The space is a striking blend of orange and blue, with a deep blue La Marzocco coffee machine cranking out the goods using Eighthirty beans. Cabinet food is the main event and you'll find everything from banana loaf to Snickers slice, cinnamon scrolls and all the sweet goodies you may already be familiar with from Bestie. There's also a tiny menu for those who would like to dine at the large communal table. It features jaffles three ways, muesli and the odd appearing of soup. Apparently there will be hot pies in the future.
Find Baby at 67 France Street, Eden Terrace.
