This Wine-Themed Cruise Will Visit Vineyards Around the Country
Including vino-filled shore excursions and onboard masterclasses.
Luxury cruise line Celebrity Cruises has launched two new voyages especially designed for local wine lovers. The experiences, setting sail this February, will see wine aficionados drop by renowned wine regions around the country.
Each cruise kicks off with an orientation, where guests will meet onboard sommeliers. Wine-focused experiences are scheduled throughout the cruise, offering an array of onboard activities and vino-filled shore excursions.
Onboard masterclasses include an introduction to wine terms, grapes and regions with professional tasting techniques, an insight into how wine compliments oysters, and the basics of food and wine pairing. Shore excursions will jump ship in Napier, where passengers will take a drive through Hawke's Bay vineyards, and Picton to sample Marlborough's famous wines and local chocolates. Those still thirsty after the tasting excursions will have the option to indulge in over 300 tipples from the ship's own wine tower.
Villa Maria Estate winemaker Marc Udy will host the first 16-night cruise departing Auckland on 12 February, calling into Tauranga, Napier, Picton, Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and finishing in Fremantle. The second will leave from Fremantle on 28 February with Travis Fuller, Director of Winemaster.
