Whakapapa Welcomes New Aprés Ski Spot Schuss Haus
Ice-cold beers after a day on the slopes.
Whakapapa skifield and Corona have teamed up to launch Schuss Hauss — a cosy refurbished ski chalet, designed to be your favourite new spot after you get off the slopes. It's the perfect possie to have a few drinks, a bit of tasty Mexican food, and listen to some tunes as you soak up amazing views over Tongariro National Park.
The original café in that location was destroyed in 1969 by a lahar. The replacement hut that's stood there since 1970 has now been given a new lease of life as the Schuss Hauss. The views up to the summit and down through Tongariro National Park are phenomenal.
It also coincides awesomely with Whakapapa's Night Ski, where the fields are floodlit and you can shred right up until 9pm. Schuss Hauss is at the top of the first chairlift, so you can ride up there after you drop your gear, or ski/snowboard straight in. You can roll up post-ride from 11am-5pm, or until 9pm on Night Ski Fridays and Saturdays.
Corona is also hosting hosting snowboard demo days with Burton, as well as live DJ and acoustic sets at Schuss Haus throughout the season.
