QT Is Opening a New Boutique, Design-Led Hotel in Auckland
It will eventually be found in the heart of Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter.
Auckland is currently experiencing something of a hotel boom. In line with the projected 4 million plus visitors set to pay a call to our shores by 2025, more than 4000 new rooms are coming to the central city via several new property developments. The latest brand to join the lineup is QT Hotels & Resorts.
The boutique hotel brand is particularly known for its flashy interior design. Since reopening last year, the capital's QT Wellington now houses the largest privately owned collection of art in New Zealand, curated by the hotel's previous owner Chris Parkin. In Melbourne the brand boasts specially commissioned video art, European furnishings and well-designed public spaces to complete a premium hotel experience.
The Auckland flagship property, which will eventually be found in the heart of Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter, will be the tenth QT hotel in the group and the third in New Zealand. The design-led hotel has been called "wonderfully far from ordinary".
Property Owners, the Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group, will be converting an existing building at 4 Viaduct Harbour into QT Auckland. The hotel will feature over 150 rooms, several conferencing and event spaces, and QT's signature dining concept and bar. Dining concepts at QT sibling properties include a European bistro, an indulgent cakery and a souk and bodega-inspired marketplace.
In charge of realising QT's signature art-centric vision is interior designer Nic Graham. A longstanding QT collaborator, Graham will create the interiors for a myriad of public spaces within the hotel.
QT Auckland is expected to open in early 2020.
