Overview

Established in 1852 as a winter shelter for the Tuileries Palace's orange trees, the Musée de l'Orangerie has been Paris' home for impressionist art since the 1920s. Still on display today, Claude Monet's acclaimed Water Lillies series launched this fascinating collection.

Soon growing to include works from Cézanne, Matisse, Modigliani and Picasso, the Musée de l'Orangerie presents several legendary names. Supported by a program of temporary exhibitions, it's the ideal destination to trace this remarkable art movement.
