Indie Publisher Gives Readers a Lifetime Subscription for their Literary Tattoos

Black Ocean are offering a lifetime's subscription to everything they've ever published in exchange for a permanent billboard on your skin.

I once had an English class with a girl who had a full-colour portrait of Nick Cave tattooed on her arm. I have a friend who has the lyrics to a Sigur Ros song tattooed across her foot in faultless Icelandic. Yet I have never met anybody with a literary tattoo (although I once met a guy who made up some elaborate bullshit about the whale on his forearm being an allusion to Moby Dick). From these sparing facts I deduce that there just aren't enough literary tattoos out there. Maybe books just aren't that popular with the kids these days.

The offer from the forward thinking people at indie publisher Black Ocean will change all of this. On their blog, Black Ocean have announced that they will gift you a lifetime's subscription of books in exchange for a literary tattoo inspired by one of their titles. To become a Black Oceanographer for life, they ask you to “send us a picture of you getting your tattoo (so we know it’s not simply a magic marker), or find one of us in person and expose yourself to us (with fair warning)". It's probably worth mentioning that Black Ocean offers an "Everything-In-Print" subscription for US$100, which gets you a copy of everything they've ever published, plus a free book. Which is a pretty awesome deal.
