Your Weekend Escape Just Got Longer, as Mudgee's Rest Rebate Invites Travellers to Stay an Extra Night on the House
Turns out the secret to a truly relaxing holiday isn't heading away more often — it's staying an extra night for free.
If months-long adventures are no longer on the agenda, the next best thing is a weekend away. But one downside most of us can attest to is arriving home somehow more tired than when we departed. Sure, there's still plenty of time amid a two-night stay to soak up an idyllic location and experience a much-needed sense of relaxation.
Yet between rushing to finish the working week, packing everything you need, getting to and from your destination, and dealing with any hurdles that arise, what should be a rejuvenating escape sometimes doesn't quite hit as hard as you'd hoped. However, Mudgee Region Tourism has cooked up a new campaign to help you extend your stay.

Launching what it describes as Australia's first 'Rest Rebate', this picturesque regional destination — situated in New South Wales' Central West — is offering a complimentary third night when you book in a Friday and Saturday night getaway. And with 12 participating accommodation providers, there's no shortage of restful, free stays.
"The Rest Rebate creates value for travellers and operators at the same time. If people stay longer, they experience more of the region, local businesses benefit, and visitors leave genuinely feeling restored. That's a far more meaningful outcome than simply driving another booking," says Mudgee Region Tourism Chief Marketing Officer Beau Kassas.

For those who decide to head to Mudgee and surrounds, taking your time is bound to serve you well. With the region highly regarded for its epicurean delights — think exceptional wineries, award-winning restaurants and myriad outdoor activities — you'll be thanking yourself for being wise enough to add an extra night. And it won't even cost you a thing.
Among the dozen stays taking part in the campaign, some of your options include Wandarra Homestead, Glenayr Farm, and Perry Street Hotel. "Tourism marketing has traditionally focused on convincing people to take a break. We wanted to challenge the way Australians take breaks in the first place," says Kassas.

Mudgee Region Tourism's 'Rest Rebate' is now available for select stays. Head to the website for more information.
