Jeff Nishinaka’s prodigious paper
When a simple piece of paper falls into the hands of Los Angeles-born artist Jeff Nishinaka, origami is taken to a whole new dimension of intricate and beautiful art. Jeff first started experimenting with paper art and sculpture at UCLA where he graduated from the prestigious Art Centre College of Design. Since then, his 28-year career has seen him work in advertising, fashion and fine art, creating everything from commercial executions to giant paper-installations for a diverse range of clients.
“Paper to me is a living, breathing thing that has a life of its own. I just try to reflect that energy into something that feels animated and alive.”
His enviable portfolio includes work for Bloomingdales, Galeries Lafayette, The Peninsula Hotel, Visa, Paramount Pictures and Coca-Cola to name but a few– but the largest display of his work is owned by a private collector – Hollywood actor Jackie Chan, who is not only a massive fan of the artist but also a close personal friend.
