Whether you eat them straight out of the jar, ask for double on your Macca's cheeseburger, or just believe that a sambo isn't complete without this relish — for true pickle lovers the phrase "too many pickles" just does not exist.

Well, prepare yourself McClure's fans. The country's eateries are about to become your kingdom as outlets across Aotearoa turn it on to celebrate International Pickle Week, running from Monday, November 14 until Sunday, November 20. This week will see pubs, restaurants and cafes across Auckland and Wellington whipping up limited-edition pickle-based delights, like burgers, sandwiches — and even sweet treats.

That includes a speciality pickle doughnut from Grey Lynn doughnut store DOE for one day only, on Saturday, November 19. Made with cream cheese, feta and dill filling, slices of pickles, and topped with a pickle juice dill glaze, it's basically as much gherkin as you can get in your mouth at any one time.

If you're in Wellington, Dirty Burger and The Kaarage Kid have created the unusual but tantalising Peanut Butter Pickle Shake, made from McClure's pickle juice and Pic's peanut butter, blended with creamy soft serve.

For those craving something more traditional, Best Ugly Bagels is bringing back its 'Pickolas Cage' special for the week, with pickles, cream cheese, and onion soup mix.

And if you just want to dedicate a day to celebrating the pickle, head along to Churly's Brew Pub in Mount Eden on Sunday, November 20 — it's celebrating with a day-long Pickle Festival. The menu includes the 'pickle dog', corned beef and pickle croquettes, pickle and cheese sando and fried pickles. True pickle fans can wash all that down with a glass of Behemoth Brewing Company's gold medal-winning pickle beer and a pickle back. And if you still need more pickles, Cook & Nelson will run a Pickle Stall on the day — and there will be a pickleball tournament happening all afternoon.

Block out your calendar and prepare your stomach pickle fans — this is sure to be enough to satisfy you. At least, until next year.

Pickle Week will run in participating outlets across Auckland and Wellington from Monday, November 14 until Sunday, November 20. For more information, head to Cook and Nelson's website.
