Overview

The Roxy's Eat the Film concept typically sees chef Nic Spicer and his team enhance the cinema experience by serving dishes and cocktails inspired by classic flicks. In the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown, the cinema is now bringing the experience direct to your home theatre. Each week Coco at the Roxy will present a themed two-course dinner box tied to a movie genre for you to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Each box for two includes a mocktail per person from the award-winning bar team, two heat-and-eat dishes, and a link to a specially recorded intro from the box office team full of recommendations to curate and personalise your experience.

The meal kits cost $70 for two and will be delivered between 2–4pm every Friday. They can also be picked up direct from the cinema in Miramar each Friday from 11am–2.30pm or 5–8pm.

This week's Kiwiana Box features dishes inspired by classic local films. 'The Dead Lambs' comprises lemon and rosemary lamb shoulder; 'Goodbye Kumara Pie' includes horopito-dusted Yorkshire puddings with spiced kumara; and the dessert tips its hat to classic movie snacks Jaffas and Pineapple Lumps.

The art deco cinema is also now open for screenings. It is enforcing seated social distancing at 50 percent less capacity and tickets are sold online only.
