Eb & Sparrow

Soaring and grounded, dark and bright, dreamy and direct, country and Spanish, 1850s and 1950s, delicate and propulsive, all the while lamenting and laughing.

Overview

Country, indie, folk, sentimental and somewhat dark. That’s Wellington’s Eb & Sparrow in a nutshell.

The five-piece have been honing their genre-traversing craft since 2010 and in the process have managed to release three EPs and a full length album. The self-titled debut saw the light of day last year thanks to a deal with local independent imprint Home Alone Music. The 10 song collection was recorded by Lyttelton producer Ben Edwards at The Sitting Room studios and has been described as - soaring and grounded, dark and bright, dreamy and direct, country and Spanish, 1850s and 1950s, delicate and propulsive, all the while lamenting and laughing.

The band’s next on the stage appearance will be at Wellington’s free outdoor concert series Meridian Magic Gardens at The Soundshell inside the Botanic Gardens.
