A product of the online DIY generation.

Overview

Created initially as the bedroom pop project of 22-year old songwriter Greta Kline, four-piece US band Frankie Cosmos are bringing their elegantly constructed, deeply relatable meandering alt-pop ditties to MOON in Newtown on March 10.

Frankie Cosmos is a product of a generation of artists raised on online self-releasing. Kline's early praise stemmed from her impressive, prolific catalogue of recordings. Her reputation grew as an all-ages advocate within the NYC DIY scene. This cult stardom culminated with New York Magazine naming her debut album, Zentropy, the #1 Pop album of 2014.

The everyday banalities of youth are mined for inspiration; invoking long, lazy, youthful summers and the addictive awkwardness of first loves. Spin asserted that Kline "recalls the legible confessionals of Kimya Dawson and the bright-eyed melancholy of Beat Happening".

Now a four-piece band including David Maine, Lauren Martin, and Luke Pyenson, their globally acclaimed sophomore LP, Next Thing received a coveted Best New Music designation from Pitchfork as well as smashing reviews from the New York Times and Rolling Stone.

We're expecting whimsical but frank, entirely melodious garage pop of the finest pedigree.
