Overview

The perfect film for one of those days where everything is going wrong and you start to question your direction, ideas and entire mind is the creative documentary From Nothing, Something. The 80-minute film offers an insight into the creative process. From the formulation of ideas, to the filtering through endless streams of information, the energy and drive needed to build on these ideas, and the process through to the eventual end product. The documentary looks at the similarities between innovation from creators across a diverse spectrum of disciplines. From novelists to top chefs, artists to architects, comedians to video game designers, the story is well-researched and extensive. It focuses on finding what it takes to succeed, no matter the industry.

Directed by Tim Cawley, the co-founder and chief creative officer of Sleek Machine, the film is the result of Tim’s 20-year experience as a creator, of sorts. Cawley has been a part of some iconic campaigns, including the Dunkin’ Donuts “America Runs on Dunkin” project and the MLB FanCave which is an open-all-hours New York tourist attraction boasting 2.5 million followers across social media. The film demonstrates Cawley’s own understanding of creativity, and collates it along with numerous other creative minds to produce a convincing theory on creative success.
