Overview

More than 30 upcoming and established local musicians will perform for free on Wellington's waterfront this month. Nestled among The Performance Arcade's city-wide program, What if the City Was a Theatre, is the Garage Project Live Music Series.

With a prime spot on the waterfront, the music series provides the perfect activity for long summer evenings with the relaxed sounds that evolve into more vibrant and energetic nighttime sets. The focus of the event is to promote diversity, allowing audiences to have new discoveries whilst also providing a stage for familiar Wellington favourites to expand and experiment.

This year the spotlight is on homegrown talent across two weekends. The lineup includes five-piece escapist pop group Onono, soulful indie pop trio Heavy Chest, Wellington four-piece punk rock band Dartz, draglesque cabaret performance group Haus of Sin and smooth dance act Ludus. The Summer Poets Showcase invites Nina Mingya Powles, Michaela Keebl, Ash Davida Jane, Rhegan Tu'akoi, Dani Yourukova, Sinead Overbye to the stage to share their latest works

A Garage Project pop-up bar will serve up the brewery's finest beverages. The Garage Project Live Music Series will run from 18–21 February and 26–28 February from late afternoon until 11pm.

In line with the New Zealand Government's COVID-19 guidelines, organisers will be delivering a socially distanced program under Alert Level 2. Precautionary measures in place will include reduced capacity to 100 people, mandatory sign-in stations and table service.
