Handmade Festival 2015

Overview

There is a lot to say for handmade objects with sentimental value. They can inspire forgotten memories and act as understudies for when our loved ones are away. And when you're strapped for cash on someone's birthday, they can't berate you for giving them a hand knitted scarf because, love. Handmade is the festival where aspiring arts and craftsmen can learn new creative skills, hone existing talents, and celebrate handmade art. Don't be fooled by the 'handmade' thing; this is no Amish playgroup. Handmade is all about using modern technology and state of the art equipment to produce some amazing results.

Attendees will be taught a range of new skills by experienced workshop leaders in a hands-on lesson, where participants can take away their latest creation. The classes on offer are presented by experts in their field, who will demonstrate their talents from beer brewing, to lampshade creation, sock bunny making to veggie gardening.

The event is separated into categories, including 'From the Masters', where the teachers are qualified experts, 'Taste', which consists of all things foodie, 'Homework', where knick knacks reign supreme, 'Mini-Makers' for the littlies, 'Yarn', where you BYO knitting needles, 'Stitch', made of everything fabric and textile, and 'Jewellery', where you can wear your creations afterwards.

The festival is just two days long, but there are over 100 workshops with that short 48 hour time frame. Grab a few tickets and you won't have to go gift shopping for the rest of the year. Sock bunnies all round.
