Overview

Scholars from around the globe will bring their brains together for a two-day symposium to address the mind boggling questions that surround the relationship between the histories of Indigenous modernisms across New Zealand, Australia, North America, Africa and the Pacific, and the artistic conditions of our own era.

The symposium will examine why Indigenous artists embraced modernism in different contexts in the twentieth century and their legacies today.

If you still don’t know what I’m talking about, there will be 26 scholars from Canada, Australia, Germany, USA, South Africa and New Zealand on hand to help you out.
