K-Culture: Experience Korea
The Michael Fowler Centre will be transformed into a vibrant Korean dance party, fashion show and eatery.
Overview
Wellington may feel like a way away from Korea, but on Saturday, 6 July the Michael Fowler Centre will be transformed into a vibrant Korean dance party, fashion show and eatery. Bring your elasticated pants because this is one afternoon you'll want to binge on.
The first half of the performances will see Korean hip-hop M.B. Crew featuring B-Boy, followed by a Hanbok fashion show. Colourful, traditional and yet always unique, the fashion show proves to be a big hit year after year. Completing the first half of the afternoon is sebisori, the Korean traditional percussion team.
After a short interval, expect to be amazed. New Zealand K-pop contestants from around the country battle it out for a place in a K-pop group. Only eleven spots remain, and who knows how many contestants will enter. Be there to watch the drama unfold.
If you're more a fan of Korean food than of K-pop, don't worry, there'll be stalls galore at the Michael Fowler Centre. From 12-5pm the sights, sounds and smells of Korea will immerse even the most rigid Wellingtonian. And the best part? The whole afternoon is entirely free. So bring your friends, flatmates and your family for the ultimate Korean experience.
