Overview

Freshly signed to Flying Nun, Wellington's best psych/post-punk trio Mermaidens are returning home to Meow after a month-long tour of NZ for one international tour fundraising show.

Mermaidens are renowned for their "intricate and unique songwriting, boldly raw but increasingly refined studio production, and a hypnotic live synergy that leaves audiences enchanted." Dipping into post-punk and psych, Gussie Larkin and Lily West harmonise like they've been singing together since high school (they have). Coupled with dreamy lyrics and hypnotic riff-based melodies that are all at once dark, moody and yet fluid.

Mermaidens aren't ones to muck around — the band are right about to reveal their latest body of work, LP Perfect Body, due out on August 4. The band released the single 'Lizard' back in April, and keep an eye out for their 'Satsuma' vid on the way.
