Overview

We're undergoing a renaissance in the New Zealand food scene as, more than ever, we appreciate, value and promote our own indigenous food culture.

Head to Te Papa for an entire day dedicated to Maori cuisine. Jay and Sarah, of MKR fame, and Gretta Carney of Napier's Hapi, give cooking demonstrations using native ingredients like kawakawa, karengo (seaweed) and harakeke seeds to cook up traditional and contemporary Maori food. There'll be a chance for you to try some of the kai, too.
