Organic Mechanic - Microbiome Mega Degustation
A dinner that will feed the body, mind and microbiome.
Overview
For ten days every year, Road to Beervana shows the national beer community how it's done with paired dinners, featured breweries, interactive themed bars, collaborations and general ex-beer-iences. It's all in the lead up to the country's largest craft beer festival, Beervana, a giant craft beer celebration held over two days at Westpac Stadium. For its seventh edition there are 35 beer-focused events taking place across Wellington from 3-12 August.
Food matching is big on this year's agenda. Shepherd Restaurant together with North End Brewing and microbiome scientists of the Riddet Institute will present a matched degustation to encourage a deeper understanding of positive (and negative) gut bacteria.
The experience will involve four banquet style courses from Shepherd — we're talking kimchi and kefir, fibres and fresh foods, sours and sauerkraut, beans and brettanomyces, lactobacillus and leeks. North End's beer matches will include rare yeast beers from Kapiti Island to sours and fruity delights.
Top scientists will also be on hand to introduce each beer and food pairing to give the lucky diners the facts behind the feast.
