Overview

International Pickle Day is officially recognised on 14 November, and to celebrate more than 25 eateries across the country are introducing mouthwatering and outright bonkers menu additions for an entire week.

American pickle company McClure's and local distributor Cook & Nelson are behind the Pickle Week drive, while Wellington establishments Winner Winner and Six Barrel Soda Co will be getting into the spirit with themed dishes.

On Friday, 13 November, Six Barrel will be throwing an all-out pickle party to celebrate the humble gherkin. The first 100 people who roll up to the Luke's Lane beverage station from 12pm will be able to try the brand's new zingy pickle soda for free and nab a pickle doughnut from Little Dough Co.

Six Barrel says the pickle juice is "weird and wonderful," which sounds about right.
