Overview

As part of the 150th anniversary of Wellington existing (happy birthday, Wellington), photographer Russell Kleyn has taken it upon himself to create a "collective identity of Wellington through the faces of its people". Which translates to him hosting an open studio from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 28 March and Sunday 29 March where he'll be taking as many portraits as humanly possible for the duration of those two days.

The Wellington-based photographer is originally from Cape Town, South Africa where he studied Graphic Design at the University of Stellenbosch. He later gained photographic experience while living in London, where he also studied photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art. His portraits have been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London, The New Zealand Portrait Gallery and The Dowse Art Museum in Wellington.

The finished portraits will be exhibited online at www.portraying-wellington.com
