Overview

With its sweeping staircases, fresco domed roof and Middle Earth premiere pedigree, it's easy to pretend you're in an old Hollywood cinema at the Embassy. Their new retro series of films takes full advantage of this, making you feel like you've stepped back into the classic titles of the 20th century.

The Embassy will this week screen The Godfather, the 1972 classic film with the moral lesson that revenge is best served cold. Al Pacino and Marlon Brando are directed by Francis Ford Coppola in roles at the head of a fictional New York City crime family. Winning three Oscars and holding the title for a time as the highest-grossing film ever made, The Godfather is best served on the big screen. The soundtrack, composed by Italian Nino Rota is all at once sweeping and mopey, and sets the scene for the epic film.

Grab a long Italian lunch at Nicolini's before you go and savour the Italian flavour to your Saturday.
